Black Book is a unique blend of RPG, card game, and adventure genres, set in 19th-century Russia and steeped in Slavic folklore, particularly ghost stories. The protagonist, Vasilisa, was destined to become a witch but chose love over her mystical fate. Tragically, her fiancé dies under mysterious circumstances, prompting her to seek the Black Book, a powerful demonic artifact said to grant any wish if its seven seals are unlocked.

The game is set in an alternative, fantastical version of 19th-century Russia, specifically in the town of Perm, north of Cherdyn, with locations inspired by historical maps from the Perm Historical Museum. Players typically view the action from a third-person perspective (TPP), although the viewpoint occasionally shifts.

Black Book combines adventure elements, RPG mechanics, and deck-building card gameplay. Players explore the richly detailed world, engage in battles using their customized card decks, and solve puzzles to advance the story. Vasilisa's journey to unlock the secrets of the Black Book involves both supernatural encounters and moral choices, creating a deeply immersive and narrative-driven experience.
