Chernobylite is an FPP survival horror adventure game set in the Exclusion Zone around the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The protagonist, Igor, is a physicist whose beloved disappeared on the eve of the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl. Thirty years later, Igor has not come to terms with his loss. After receiving a mysterious package containing a photo of his beloved and experiencing increasingly frequent visions of her in his dreams, he returns to the site of the tragedy, now known as the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, believing she is still there.

In the Zone, a mysterious substance known as Chernobylite is being extracted, and the area is guarded by mercenaries. However, even more dangerous supernatural entities lurk in the darkness. Unlike many other games of this type, Chernobylite offers a non-linear story combined with free exploration of a world divided into several smaller locations. The gameplay involves gathering information and dealing with dangers, which can be avoided or confronted. The choices made by the player are significant – deciding whom to trust, for example, shapes the environment and affects companions.

Combat is also present in Chernobylite, with a system that aligns with the standards typical of first-person shooters. Players must navigate the haunting and treacherous Exclusion Zone, making strategic decisions and uncovering the dark secrets hidden within.
