Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is the next installment in the popular platformer series featuring the iconic gorilla, Donkey Kong. This time, the protagonist must defend his home island from an invasion of animals that are styled as Vikings. The story revolves around this invasion, where players face off against fur-clad, helmeted enemies like penguins, owls, and walruses. The campaign can be played solo or in a two-player cooperative mode. In co-op, one player controls Donkey Kong, while the other takes on the role of either Diddy or Dixie, each with slightly different abilities, enhancing the shared gameplay experience.

In terms of both storyline and gameplay mechanics, Tropical Freeze is a direct sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns. The levels are crafted in 3D, but players navigate them in two dimensions.
